This reflection is sure to resonate with many of you, as so many parts of our planet have been hit with extreme weather events, devastating earthquakes and ongoing health crises in recent weeks.

Fr Pat Breeze sm has written a very encouraging reflection, reminding us that whatever change may happen in our lives, our permanence flows from the cross, which constantly gives us the grace we need for the sufferings we may have to endure.

There is no newsletter or mailout this month as I am on leave, but we pray especially for those affected by Cyclone Gabrielle in NZ, and the earthquake victims in Syria and Turkey. Mary, Mother of Mercy, Pray for us.

Begin your meeting with a prayer, then read Philippians 4:6-7

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation,

by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your

requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends

all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds

in Christ Jesus.”

  • What struck you most from the reflection?

  • Do I bring my worries or concerns to God in prayer each day?

  • Are there any good things that you experience in this time of rapid change?

  • What things in your faith offer you security and a sense of permanence?

  • What does your deeper wisdom tell you about life today?

Pray with each other then conclude with this prayer.

God of Love,

You are with us in every transition and change,

As we enter into this new era with excitement and even some anxiety,

We recall your deep compassion, presence, and abounding love.

We thank you for the gifts, talents and skills with which you have blessed us.

We thank you for the experiences that have brought us to this moment.

We thank you for the work of others that gives breadth and depth to our own work.

Be with us as we move forward, rejoicing with you and supporting one another.

We ask this in your Holy Name.

Amen
