Blessing of the Sacred Image of Antoine Marie GARIN s.m.
The parish priest of Panmure, Fr. Iosefa Euese blessed this Sacred Image of Antoine Marie Garin sm during Mass on the 14th April, 2023 – the 175th year, to the day, of the last Masses Antoine prayed at Panmure and Howick. The icon was written by Michael Pervan, from the Studio of St John the Baptist.
Antoine Garin sm, was appointed to the pensioner soldier settlements in Howick, Panmure and Otahuhu in 1847, and he founded the parishes in Howick and Panmure. In 1850 he was assigned to Nelson where he remained for the next 40 years .
The cause of his sainthood was promoted in Remuera, in 2016.
