Begin with Thanksgiving and Prayer, then read Philippians 1:3-11

 “I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me. God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God”.

 Marian Mothers Charter # 1

Motherhood is a gift of God, accepted in faith, lived in hope and fulfilled in love.

  “… generations shall call me blessed.”  Luke 1:48

 

 

These questions can be used as a guide for your sharing

  • What struck you most from the reflection ?

  • What do you think of when you hear the phrase “memories and connections”?

  • What events or items you may have connect you with family or friends ?

  • If you feel lonely or isolated at times, what connections can you make with others?

  • How does our family of faith and our Marist family connect you?

  • How might St Peter Chanel speak to us in the changing and uncertain times of today?

  

 

Pray with and for each other then conclude with these prayers. 

Lord God,

You bring us together as one, you guide and protect us during difficult times, you strengthen us with your love.

We thank you for the times past, for the

memories, for the things that bind and strengthen us.

We thank you for the lives of faith and

courage which inspire us and help us to see the way forward in our lives.

Remember the lonely and those suffering the trials of life.

Give us all the faith and courage to live in uncertain times, knowing that those around us support us.

May St Peter Chanel’s life and witness spur us on.

 

 

 

 

A Prayer to St Peter Chanel

St Peter Chanel you left your homeland to proclaim Jesus, Saviour of the world, to the peoples of Oceania. Guided by the spirit of God, who is the strength of the gentle, you bore witness to love, even laying down your life.

Grant that like you we may live our daily life in peace, joy, and in love. May your prayer and example call forth from our midst many workers for the Gospel so that God’s kingdom may reach to the ends of the earth. Amen.
